Your life will change with a baby, but your style doesn’t have to…
If you’re anything like me you’re probably used to having multiple bags on the go – one for every occasion right? And now with the addition of a baby you need to find that one bag that will not only get you from a to b, but will fit nappies, lippies, snacks, bottles -and the kitchen sink! Your baby bag will be with you almost every day for the next year or so which means you’ve really got to get the right one that will work for you. I’ve sussed out some options to make your life easier…
The Durable: Country Road Multi Pocket Baby Bag, $169.
Baby bags have a hard life – there’s the milk, the food, the nappies not to mention those sticky little fingers that have to touch everything inside. That’s why it’s good to find a bag that not only looks good but is durable and hardwearing. This one also has lots of pockets and compartments to ensure a somewhat organised life.
The Sleek: The Daily Edited Baby Bag, $389.95
Did someone say monogram? That’s right, this leather tote can be personalised with your initials for the most stylish baby bag out. It even has a detachable shoulder strap making it the easy choice to sling over your shoulder when you’re pushing the buggy. It’s my personal favourite, and trust me, you won’t want to stop using it once you can downsize again.
The Unisex: Tiba + Marl Elwood Backpack Quilted, $289 available at So Beau Baby
Dads need to take the baby bag too which is why we love how the humble backpack works for both parents. Taking sports luxe to a whole new level this option gives you a hands-free living which will undoubtedly make life easier. It has everything you need inside from an insulated bottle holder to a changing mat, plus it fits your laptop if you’ve got a bit of work to do. [Full disclosure: my husband steadfastly refused to take out any baby bag opting instead for a plastic grocery bag filled with our son’s essentials – tres chic!]
The Label: The Marc Jacobs Nylon Biker Bag, $403
This one has been around for a while and there’s a reason why. It’s basically the answer to a stylish but non fussy baby bag. The fabric can pretty much sustain whatever comes at it (which you’ll likely find out) , and a fold up change mat so you can master those on-the-go nappy changes like a pro. And if you need to justify it to yourself – just remember that cost per wear rule! $403 divided by 365 days makes it an almost affordable choice… right?
The Minimalist: Pretty Brave The Roundabout, $99.95
Okay – let’s face it – it’s not going to fit the kitchen sink but if you’re just nipping out for a bit this is the perfect solution so you don’t get caught short! The Houdini of the baby bag world, this little power purse transforms into a changing mat and play mat while having enough room for nappies, wipes and of course your keys and bank cards! Perfect for leopard print lovers too.
